Administration of Deceased Estates

When someone dies, their estate must be reported to the Master of the High Court and wound up under the Administration of Estates Act. An executor is appointed to gather the assets, settle the debts and taxes, and pass what remains to the heirs. We assist executors and families with each step, from reporting the estate to the final distribution.

  • Reporting the estate to the Master of the High Court
  • Advertising for creditors, settling debts and preparing the liquidation and distribution account
  • Distributing the estate to the heirs at the end of the process

Recently lost a family member? Call 043 683 1028 or 077 469 9969 to talk through the first steps.

Criminal courts

Criminal Matters

A criminal matter can begin with an arrest, a summons or a written notice to appear in court. Legal representation from the start helps you understand the charge, your rights and what happens next. We can assist with bail applications, advise you on the charges you face and represent you in court.

  • Bail applications after an arrest
  • Advice on the charges, your rights and the court process
  • Representation at court appearances, trial and sentencing

Arrested or charged? Call 043 683 1028 or 077 469 9969, or send a WhatsApp.

Claims and disputes

Civil Litigation

Civil litigation is how disputes between people or businesses are resolved through the courts, such as a claim for money owed, for damages or for a breach of contract. Whether you need to bring a claim or defend one brought against you, we can explain where you stand, prepare the court papers and represent you through the process. Where a settlement is possible, we can negotiate on your behalf.

  • Letters of demand and issuing summons
  • Defending a claim or summons brought against you
  • Court representation and settlement negotiations

Received a summons or letter of demand? Court papers carry deadlines, so book a consultation and bring the documents with you.

Planning ahead

Wills and Estate Planning

A will sets out who inherits from you, who you nominate as executor and who should care for your minor children. Without a valid will, your estate is divided under the rules of intestate succession, which may not reflect your wishes. We can draft a new will, review an existing one and help you plan how your assets pass to the people you choose.

  • Drafting a new will that is signed and witnessed correctly
  • Updating your will after a marriage, divorce, birth or property purchase
  • Nominating an executor and a guardian for minor children

Already have a will? Bring it along and we can check whether it still reflects your wishes. Book a consultation.

Home Affairs

Immigration Law

Immigration law governs who may visit, live, work or study in South Africa, under the Immigration Act and the rules applied by the Department of Home Affairs. An application needs the right category and the right supporting documents. We can advise on which visa or permit applies to you, help prepare your application, and assist with an appeal where an application has been refused.

  • Temporary residence visa applications, such as spousal, relative’s, study and work visas
  • Permanent residence permit applications
  • Appeals to the Department of Home Affairs against refused applications

Application refused? Appeals are time-limited, so call 043 683 1028 or 077 469 9969 as soon as you can.

Which applies to you

A will and a deceased estate are two ends of the same process.

Before · Wills and estate planning

You want to plan for the people you leave behind.

When: during your lifetime

You decide who inherits, who you nominate as executor and who would care for your minor children. A will can be changed at any time while you are alive, so it is worth reviewing whenever your circumstances change.

After · Administration of a deceased estate

Someone has passed away and their affairs must be wound up.

When: after a death

The estate is reported to the Master of the High Court, an executor is appointed, debts are settled and what remains passes to the heirs, according to the will or, where there is no valid will, under the rules of intestate succession.
